In 2021 VIVEMAR begins a project with the organizations Tierra de Aves AC and Fondo Oaxaqueño para la Conservación AC, in this established link we have managed to place the first monitoring station for migratory birds in the entire state of Oaxaca.
Thanks to this collaboration, VIVEMAR is providing scientific data that helps to conserve and protect various birds that visit us from different countries, as well as their habitat.
Thanks to the scientific ringing work we have been able to demonstrate the great importance of the conservation of coastal dunes.
Since the xeric scrub vegetation (desert vegetation) and the low deciduous forest are HIGHLY important habitats for the cycle that migratory birds must comply with.
Birds are crucial, for the ecological balance in the coastal zone, as well as to integrate the ecosystems, birds are pollinators, they spread seeds around the world, they maintain the balance in the trophic chains.
Vivemar has currently collaborated on two occasions in the scientific ringing course taught by Tierra de Aves, where members of the VIVEMAR team have managed to develop their skills to identify, ring and release the specimens in order to contribute to their preservation and conservation.
