ABOUT US

VIVEMAR is a non-governmental organization founded as a cooperative society by people from the community in 2011. Located in Bajos de Chila, San Pedro Mixtepec, Juquila, Oaxaca, Mexico (15 min from Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca). VIVE M.A.R. means life in the SEAS, Mangroves, Birds and Reptiles.

Our organization is in charge of the conservation and protection of flora and fauna along 27 km of coastline thanks to the WILDLIFE AUTHORIZATION SGPA/DGCS/04627/22-23, in which we carry out conservation work on 4 of the 7 species of sea turtles existing in the world, as well as bird conservation, mangrove reforestation, environmental education, organic agriculture, eco-techniques and a volunteer program that, in addition to contributing to the scientific world, we benefit local communities by promoting good environmental practices, their economy and education.

VIVEMAR belongs to the Oaxaca Coast Wetlands Network which, as its name indicates, is a Network of community cooperatives which is made up of people from the community and, like Vivemar, does not belong to any government or private institution. Likewise, this network and Vivemar work together in favor of the conservation and protection of natural resources and culture on the coasts of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
